What is a MERV Air Filter?
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) is a standardized rating system that almost every manufacturer of these types of devices (air filters) uses for regulation and safety guidelines. The MERV rating is a general way to determine the efficiency of an air filter. The rating is represented in numbers and ranges from 1 to 20. There are really two different components of a MERV rating. One is the ability to remove large airborne particles, or particles that are between 1 and 10 microns.
